New Single:
Taillights
This song is driving fast down back-roads on a hot summer night trying to get the hell out of the town you’ve been stuck in your whole life. Pounding Americana Rock with a little Country dirt on it. Raucous saxophones underscore a driving guitar, over the slicked back groove tossed between the Wurlitzer and the electric bass. Fans of Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, and Theo Katzman will be playing this song on repeat.
Lyrics
Another hot summer night watching all the stars burning in the sky
Listening to the thunder rolling on the edge of town
On her bed with the window open
Holding her car keys to her heart just hoping
That one day that old wreck is going to get her out
Only dreams of green lights and straightaways
High beams driving the night away
Peeling the white lines off the pavement
Trying to find where the highway ends
She wants to be taillights
Fading down an open road
No more midnights
Lying awake wishing she could go
No she ain’t coming back, no
So she leaves the rear view mirror at home
As she flies off in the glow of red taillights
She says the road’s the only place that she’s ever felt forgiven
Because she’s spent her whole life here rotting in this broken town
She knows engines don’t last too long here
When you never push the car past third gear
But she always hits the county line then turns back around
Her knuckles tense on the gear shift grip
Heartbeat waiting for the light to trip
That lead foot wants to drain gasoline
And burn out the throttle in this machine
Until she’s nothing but taillights
Fading down an open road
No more midnights
Lying awake wishing she could go
No she ain’t coming back, no
So she leaves the rear view mirror at home
As she flies off in the glow of red taillights
She wants to be taillights
Fading down an open road
No more midnights
Lying awake wishing she could go
No she ain’t coming back, no
So she leaves the rear view mirror at home
As she flies off in the glow of red taillights
